Great Ways to Freshen Fido’s Breath

Let’s face it: dog breath isn’t usually all that pleasant. But while your dog’s breath might not smell like a field of lilies, it shouldn’t bowl you over or smell rotten, either. If Fido’s breath seems really bad, it’s worth a trip to the vet. Otherwise, you can take a few steps to make sure your dog’s dental health stays in good shape.

Brush your dog’s teeth regularly using a canine-formulated toothpaste and a pet-specific toothbrush. This removes plaque, a thin film of bacteria and leftover food particles that causes odors. Dental chews or dental sticks are also helpful—they scrape away plaque and give your dog’s breath a minty boost at the same time. And don’t forget about chew toys. They also help to remove some of the plaque on your dog’s teeth and along the gum line, and they provide your pooch with hours of fun!
