What to Know About the Affenpinscher
The Affenpinscher first appeared in 17th century Germany. This is a toy breed with a tiny frame that gives him ability to fit in tight and small faces in order to chase rats out. In fact, the Affenpinscher is one of the first toy breeds. This particularly tiny pup is known for his scruffy appearance, monkey like facial features, and amusing facial hair shaped like a moustache and beard. The Affenpinscher was made famous in Renoir’s painting “Luncheon of the Boating Party.” This breed was also made famous when mining heiress Evalyn Walsh McLean added the Affenpinscher to her collection. McLean was one of the wealthiest women and well known for her collection of valuable jewels including a 45 carat “Hope” diamond. McLean often attached this diamond and other jewels to the collars of her Affenpinscher. Today, the Affenpinscher is an energetic, loving dog that loves to play and explore.
