All About the Brussels Griffon

The Brussels Griffon is a small toy breed dog that was developed in Belgium in the 1800s. This breed of canine started out primarily as a rat catcher in the stables. By the 19th century; however, the dog became quite popular among nobility and eventually moved up in class. Today the Griffon is a robust, sturdy and alert pup that loves attention. They are generally very affectionate dogs and tend to get along with most people and animals. Because of their size they are not recommended for families with small children. Griffons are intelligent little pups, but if you want to train successfully you must start early. Their overall health is average although they have been known to develop cysts along their spines in their older years. Griffons come in smooth or rough coats that are a variety of colors including beige, red, black and black-tan. Contact your veterinarians Kerrville, TX to learn more.
