Red Eared Sliders

Did you know that the red-eared slider is a type of aquatic turtle? These cold-blooded reptiles are often kept as house pets. If you’re interested in owning a pet turtle, talk to your veterinarian Derby for further information. Owning a turtle is illegal in some regions so check before you buy. The red-eared slider spends much of his time swimming and lounging on rocks, logs, or other surfaces above water. He does this to soak in the sun and stays warm. In the winter, he burrows deep into the earth to hibernate. Red-eared sliders need warmth, clean water, and the right diet to grow and remain healthy. It is recommended that adults act as the primary caretaker of this turtle as they require a lot of maintenance. These turtles can live anywhere from 50 to 70 years.
