Treats for Birds

Do you enjoy giving your bird treats as reward or when training your bird to do tricks? What do you feed your bird? Check with your vet to make sure it’s OK for your bird. Your vet can also give you other recommendations on what kinds of foods to feed your bird for treats. In general, the type of treats you feed your bird will depend on the type of bird you own, his age, and his size. Most birds love to eat fresh fruits such as grapes, oranges, bananas and melons. Some bird owners feed their birds cooked beans. For instance, boil a 15 bean soup without seasoning. Allow the beans to cool and offer some to your bird. Just remember to never serve your bird raw beans as some can be poisonous. Fresh vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, or greens are also considered to be a favorite treat for birds.
