Eye Injuries for Cats

If your cat gets an injury to the eye, please call your vet right away. It’s better to have your vet say it’s just a minor injury then to try to treat it at home only to find out it’s a major injury. Cat breeds with prominent eyes, such as Persians, are often more susceptible to eye injuries than other breeds. A cat’s eye can show signs of irritation due to an eyelash or some type of debris in the eye. Irritation and inflammation can also be caused by a scratch whether big or small. Signs that your cat may have scratched her eye include watery eyes, green or yellow eye discharge, squinting, excessive blinking, and an avoidance of bright lights. Always call your vet Webster, NY immediately away as a small irritation could lead to excessive damage to the eye if not treated by a professional right away.
