What to Feed your Chickens

If you’re raising chickens from a young age you will need to change their feed as they grow older. As chicks, you should feed them a starter chicken feed for baby chicks. If you have older chickens, keep them separated from the babies until the babies can eat the same food as the older chickens. Make sure you have plenty of water available for the chicks in a separate container that they are able to get too. You may have to dip the chick’s beak into the feed and the water to show him it’s there. At 8 weeks of age, you can switch your baby chicks over to a grower feed. You will be able to feed this to the now adolescent chickens until they start laying. Once they start laying you can switch them over to a layer feed. For more suggestions, talk with your Mt. Airy, MD veterinary clinic.
