Dealing With Dogs That Eat Rocks And Stones

Some dogs have developed a weird behavior: eating rocks. Eating rocks is a common habit for some dogs but it should never be tolerated at all costs. Your beloved dog's teeth could get chipped away or break by eating rocks or even small stones. Meanwhile, swallowing a whole stone or rock could lead to blockage of the mouth or airway, and this could result in a lot of expensive animal clinic or vet bills associated with lab tests, x-ray, or worse, your dog needs to undergo surgery.

If your dog loves running for and chasing the rocks you throw out in the yard, you need to keep a close eye on your dog and make sure he doesn't eat them at all. You could think of ways to make those rocks unpleasant for him to eat. You can do so by applying taste deterrents on those rocks, and even on all the rocks on your backyard garden or those found in the walking routes.
