Blindness in Birds

No one wants their pet to go blind, but it can happen due to age, injury, illness etc. Birds can even go blind. You should be more aware of your bird’s possibility to go blind if your bird has recently developed cataracts or had some kind of injury. If you notice your bird is having trouble getting around his cage or is acting as though he can’t see then you should call your vet and schedule an exam. Not all eye illnesses or injuries will lead to blindness, but it’s best not to take chances and to have your bird’s eyes looked at by a professional. Even if your bird does go blind he can still live a healthy and happy life. In many cases, owners do not even realize their birds are blind until a vet checkup. If your bid has lost his sight, give him time to adjust. Learn more here or call your veterinarians Derby.
