Your Guinea Pig’s Teeth

Your guinea’s pig teeth will grow constantly throughout his life so they could become overgrown. If you don’t take care of your guinea pigs teeth, they could even cross over each other. Your guinea pig could suffer with difficulty eating, pain, and cuts inside of the mouth if his teeth become overgrown. Check your mouth pig’s teeth and look for straight and relatively short teeth. He may need medical attention if he has broken teeth or excessive discoloration. You can help your guinea pig wear down his teeth to a normal length by giving him lots of timothy hay to nibble on and pet-safe wooden blocks for gnawing. Include hard vegetables such as carrots and squash in your guinea pig’s diet for gnawing and additional nutrition. Include foods high in vitamin C to promotes healthy teeth.
