Fun Facts About the Beagle

Did you know that Snoopy, Charlie Brown’s pet dog, is a Beagle? The Beagle is one of the most recognized breeds in the U.S. and one of the most loved by U.S. pet owners. The American Kennel Club Association ranks the Beagle around 5 on the list of 194 popular dog breeds. The Beagle that we know of today originated in the 1830s in Great Britain, but experts believe a type of Beagle may have been around in Ancient Greece. The Beagle is known for his hound like appearance including his hound shaped head, hazel hound eyes, long hound ears, and sturdy body. There are two breeds recognized in the U.S. The smaller breed that weighs less than 20 pounds and stands less than 13 inches in height and the larger breed that weighs 20 to 30 pounds and stands 13 to 15 inches in height.
