Teaching your dog not to jump on you

Your dog tends to jump on you from time to time and you wish she wouldn’t engage in this behavior. How can you teach her not to jump on you when you interact with her?

Your dog needs you to take the time to be there with her regularly to offer her plenty of attention. This will help prevent her from jumping up in the first place, as she is likely doing so to meet your line of sight and capture your full attention. If she does still jump every once in a while, refrain from giving her any attention until all four of her paws are back on the ground. This will help her to understand that her efforts won’t be rewarded and in time she will refrain from jumping so you will interact with her.
