Your Cat Will Need More Than One Scratching Post
Cats scratch. Period. Pet owners should provide various scratching opportunities for thier furballs if you don’t want your pet running his claws on your carpet or furniture. Cats like to scratch on various surfaces and textures. Thus, your furball won’t be happy with just one scratching post to keep him company when he wants to give his claws and paws a good workout. Pet owners should endeavor to create a good scratching environment for their cats.
- Providing several scratching posts and surfaces in the cat’s immediate environment. Thus, you should have vertical, horizontal, flat, and angled scratching surfaces. These surfaces should have different textures, as well.
- Place several posts in areas where your kitty spends a lot of time in. Ideally, each room that you cat has frequent access to should have a scratcher or two.
- Location, location, location. Just like in real estate, the location of a scratching post is an important factor that will determine whether a cat will use it or not.
