Preparing Food for a Senior Cat

Do you have an elderly or senior cat? If so, you may have noticed that he isn’t able to eat his usual cat food. When cats age then tend to develop gum disease or start to lose their teeth. Teeth may also become loose with age. This makes chewing regular dry food a little difficult. You can help your cat out by preparing him wet food instead. If you still feed dry food or need to use up the rest of a bag before switching simply soak it in hot water at least one minute before serving. Drain the food before serving. Add a little tuna or wet food on top for flavor or to entice your cat to eat. If your cat stops eating call your vet Frisco, TX and schedule a checkup to make sure your cat doesn’t have anything seriously wrong. Not eating could be a sign of an underlying health condition.
