Why Puppies Need Socialization

The appropriate socialization at the proper time can go a long way in the social development of puppies. Socialization should start as early as possible. During this time, there is only a small window of opportunity where puppies can develop social skills while they are exposed to different places, people, smells, sounds, etc. Dogs that underwent proper socialization tend to display fewer fear-based behaviors as they mature. Positive experiences during socialization are very important. These can help build the puppy’s confidence and ability to adapt or adjust to whatever situation they may encounter later in life. Some puppies are raised underfoot or enrolled in puppy kindergarten which can reinforce their socialization skills. Take note that any negative experience that a puppy encounters during socialization can be hard to erase. There tends to be undesirable consequences down the road.

Sudden changes in your pet’s behavior should warrant a visit to your best animal hospital Bourne, MA.
