Can Cats Drink Milk?

Contrary to popular belief, cats should not drink milk. In fact, cats are lactose intolerant and don’t handle milk very well at all. It’s hard to believe since much of the media world associates a bowl of warm milk with cats. Even kittens are often given milk if their mother isn’t present. What you may not have known, however, is that milk is dairy free or a vet approved milk replacer. Some kittens can actually have milk. They have special enzymes that are able to digest dairy including milk until they are a certain age. Once they mature and grow up then milk is no longer part of their diet whether they are on a milk replacer or just given no dairy milk as a snack. Help keep your cat healthy by avoiding milk altogether. For more information, click here or call your reputed vet clinic London, ON.
