Picking Up Your Guinea Pig

You need to learn how to pick up your guinea pig properly so you don’t inadvertently injure him. He could even die if you drop him. Before picking up your guinea pig, ensure that he is comfortable with you. Sit by his enclosure and sing or speak softly to him. Drape your hand inside for your pig to explore. You can even try hand feeding him. Once you are ready to pick up your guinea pig, act efficiently. Position one hand under your guinea pig’s chest, just behind the front legs. As you lift him, use the other hand to scoop up his rear end. Pull your guinea pig to your chest to keep him from wriggling away. Be prepared to put him down on a safe surface rather than dropping him. Never pick up your guinea pig by a limb or the scruff of the neck. Learn more from your pet clinic Las Vegas, NV.
