Treating Diabetes in Cats

If your cat has feline diabetes then you should schedule a time to talk with your vet in depth about treatment. Feline diabetes is common and can be treated so that cats can live a normal and healthy lifestyle. Without treatment, complications can occur and your cat can become very ill. Treatment for diabetes will depend on how bad the case is. Hospitalization may be needed in the beginning to regulate the disease by administering fluid therapy and short-acting insulin. Cats that are in the early stages may be able to be treated with oral medications or injections. For some cats, diabetes can be regulated or even reversed with a diet and exercise change. Other cats, however, may need routine trips to the vet and blood checks to find a medication or insulin injection that can regulate the disease. Talk to your vets Sugar Land, TX about your cat’s treatment plan.
