Why a Neutered Cat Continues To Spray

Did you know that certain changes in your neutered cat’s immediate environment can cause him to spray? The arrival of a new pet, moving to anew home, and other changes in his daily routine can be very stressful to a cat, and a common reaction to these situations is to spray.

Another important reason why a neutered cat sprays is territorial marking. This can occur in a multi-cat household where there is a female cat that is unspayed or the presence of an intact male cat in the home. The presence of other cats outside the home can also trigger spraying in neutered cats.

Spraying could also be brought about by litter box issues. A cat that is unhappy with the cleaning and maintenance of the litter box, the type of litter that is used, the location of the litter box, etc. tend to engage in spraying behaviors.

Sudden changes in your pet’s elimination habits should be brought to the attention of your vet clinic Las Vegas, NV
