Cleaning Your Turtle’s Cage

You should plan to clean your turtle’s cage or habitat or tank on a weekly basis. For instance, if you pick Saturday then each week on Saturday you should prepare to remove your turtle from his habitat to a safe place. Dump the contents of the habitat in a trash bag and wipe down the cage or tank with a vet approved cleaner. Allow it to dry. Next, add new water, dirt areas, climbing areas and basking rocks. Make sure you clean the food bowls and any inside water bowls or bottles. Clean the toys or scenery if needed. When it’s all done, place you turtle back in. On a daily basis, simply skim over the water and remove food particles. Use a cat scoop to remove debris or particles from the dirt areas.
