Car Rides for Dogs in the Summer

Car rides in the summer may not be the best idea for your dog. Lots of things can happen, like your car could break down or you have to get out of the car and can’t take your dog with you. Dogs can get overheated and develop heat stroke in less than 6 minutes in a hot car. If you take your dog for a car ride in the summer time make sure the A/C in your car is working. If it’s not, roll the windows down ahead of time to cool the car off before getting in (you could do this even with the A/C). Keep the windows down to give your dog cool air while in the moving car. Don’t plan any stops. Your vet Los Gatos, CA can tell you that even a window rolled down is not enough to keep your dog cool in a non-moving car.
