Your Cat’s Whiskers

Your cat’s whiskers are thick, specialized hairs that are connected to sensitive nerves and give her extra sensory perception. These whiskers grow to roughly the width of your cat’s body so she can use them to determine whether she will fit through small spaces. If her head and whiskers fit through the opening, the rest of her body will too. Your cat’s whiskers also help her determine distance and height, which makes her ability to leap from place to place easy and accurate. Your cat can sense vibrations through her whiskers so she can determine the exact location of prey even in the dark whether it is a mouse or your foot. Never trim your cat’s whiskers so this could result in confusion and disorientation. Old whiskers will fall out on their own to be replaced by new ones.
