Walking Your Cat in the Summer

Does your cat enjoy taking walks? Some cats can actually be trained to walk beside you or walk on a leash. If your cat loves to go for walks make sure you pick well shaded or cool areas in the summer time. The heat can cause your cat to get too hot too quickly as well as cause blisters on your cat’s paw pads if she’s walking on hot surfaces. During the warmer months try to plan to take walks with your cat in the early morning or late evening. Overcast days that aren’t humid or hot are also great times to go for walks. Look for areas with a lot of trees and shade and avoid sidewalks and roadway surfaces. Take an umbrella with you to shield the sun from yourself and your cat. Bring plenty of water along as well.
