Cross Breeding of the Australian Cattle Dog

Did you know that the Australian Cattle dog is actually the result of a cross breeding between the Blue Merle and the Australian Dingo? The breed was developed in the 1800s as a result of the Australian settlers’ need for a cattle dog or working dog. They needed the canine to be able to herd sheep, cattle and other livestock over rough terrain and across long distances. The Australian Cattle dog emerged and didn’t disappoint. The breed is rough, tough, full of energy, extremely intelligent, and dedicated to his work. The breed is also very loving, affectionate and loyal to his family. The breed has been said to truly be ‘man’s best friend’ in that once he identifies his family, he’s forever loyal. The Australian Cattle dog is a great family dog as long as he’s monitored around small children and gets plenty of daily exercise. Talk to your animal hospital London, ON to learn more click here.
