How to Transition Your Cat to a New Diet

There is a lot of cat food out there. As you can probably guess, some of it is good for your feline friend, and some of it isn’t so good. Whether your cat has a special medical condition or you simply want to wean him off of the poor-quality chow, it’s important to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Always mix some of his old food in with the new at the beginning. You can start with a larger portion of his old food and a smaller portion of his new food, slowly increasing his new food until the old stuff is completely removed from his diet.

If you’re still having trouble, try mixing the new kibble with a few of his favorite treats or a bit of wet food. For help figuring out what kind of food your cat should eat, schedule an appointment with your vets Brandon, FL.
