Keeping your dog cool in the warmer months of the year

Your dog is a big part of your life and you know that he wants to be outside as much as he possibly can be. How can you help him keep his cool in the warmer months of the year?

Extreme temperatures and hot surfaces can be problematic for a lot of pets, and yours is no exception. Make sure you are aware of the weather conditions in your area and make your daily plans accordingly. If it’s going to be very hot out, avoid surfaces that will retain this heat, like asphalt and decks, since these could harm your pet’s paw pads. Avoid strenuous activity with your pet and bring him inside often to cool off. Make sure he has a shaded area in your yard to hang out in and plenty of cool water to drink. For additional information, please contact your local Carolina Forest, SC veterinarian.
