Should I Bathe My Cat?
Cats in general do not need baths. If your cat is super filthy and practically covered in mud then a rinse down in the tub or sink may be necessary or even a quick spray with the outside water hose will work. However, for the most part cats do not need baths. They are excellent self groomers. You may have noticed your cat licking his paws and rubbing his fur down or even licking his fur and pressing it down. This is his instinctive way of keeping clean. He’s also spreading the oils on his coat around to protect his skin and coat. Bathing your cat too often could strip the fur of these necessary oils which is definitely not what you want. Talk to your Glendale, AZ veterinary clinic about bathing your cat. He may suggest using pet bath wipes if your cat is overly dirty.
