Getting the Fleas Out of Your Home

If you own a dog or cat chances are you’ve come into contact with fleas and may have even had a flea infestation in your home. Fleas on your pet and in your home can be an annoyance and frustrating to get rid of. Here are some tips for handling an infestation in the home. First, take all of your pet’s bedding and toss it in the dryer for at least 10 to 15 minutes. This will kill the fleas. If it’s washable you may want to wash it as well. Once you’ve removed the bedding, remove your pet. Apply flea and tick medication or ask your vet about a flea dip to kill the fleas. Once this is done, have your pet moved to a different part of the house. Next, vacuum the infested area thoroughly. Spray any areas your pet has been in whether it’s inside or outside the home. Call your Pasadena, MD vet for more tips.
