Keeping Your Bird Cool in the Summer

If you own a pet bird you may be wondering how to keep him comfortable when the weather is constantly changing outdoors. Sometimes all you can do is get up in the morning, feel the weather for yourself and determine if your bird should be kept cool or warm for the day. During the spring and summer, keeping your bird cool will be most important. You can do this by moving your bird’s cage into the air conditioned home. Or, if there’s no A/C, move his cage to a porch area where he will get a nice cool breeze. You can help him stay cool by keeping fresh water available so he stays hydrated. You can also gently mist him with a water bottle. Providing a little bird bath can help as well. Always check on your bird to ensure he’s comfortable.
