Rainy Days for Your Dog

If your dog lives outdoors or spends most of his day outdoors, make sure you check the weather frequently to ensure he will be dry and comfortable. If you get up for work and find that it’s raining or will rain most of the day, consider leaving your dog indoors. This may require you setting up a safe zone for your dog. This could include a gated or blocked off room that is free of small toys, wires, etc. You may need to leave him in his crate. If you are going to be gone long consider asking a pet sitter to come and check on him or simply go home at lunch to let your dog out for a potty break. If this isn’t an option, find a way to provide your dog with shelter outdoors (i.e. dog house, porch, shed, etc.) For more tips, call your Michigan City, IN vet.
