Benefits Of Positive Reinforcement When Training Pet Cats

Positive reinforcement has been recognized as an important training tool in pets. In fact, it is often considered a catalyst in attaining the desired results within a shorter length of time. Like dogs, cats learn faster when they know that there is something in store for them if they perform as expected. It is also the nature of cats to please their humans. When giving out positive reinforcement, always remember that the reward should be given as soon as the desired action or behavior is displayed. This will serve as a marker so the cat will understand that he is being rewarded for what he has just done or performed. Some all-time favorite treats of cats include canned cat food, tuna, and meat treats. Give the treats in bite sizes just enough for a cat to eat and swallow within a few seconds, leaving them wanting for more.
