Why You Shouldn't Give Your Cat a Bath

Cats are smart, funny, loyal, and somewhat independent. They tend to fend for themselves when it comes to grooming and even hunting down their own midday snacks. If you own a cat then you’ve probably been delivered a small mouse now and then as a sign of your cat’s desire to share her snack. As a cat owner you’ve probably also noticed how much your cat grooms herself. She does this to remove dead hair, maintain a clean coat, and to move around the oils on her coat. The oils within her coat fur help keep the skin and coat healthy. They also help warm the cat in the winter and cool the cat in the summer. Giving your cat a bath too often can wash away those oils making her fur coat dry out. For more information about your cat’s coat care, talk to your Plano, TX vet. Learn more here.
