Can My Emotional Support Cat Fly Free?

There are actual regulations that allow for emotional support animals (dogs, cats, pot-bellied pigs, ponies, etc.) to fly in the cabin with passengers and to fly for free if proper documentation is provided. In this case, if your cat has been professionally classified and labeled as a support animal then he can fly with you for free and be with you in the cabin and out of the carrier. If you do not have documentation, your cat can fly but he will need a ticket and will need to be contained to a carrier and stored under the seat in front of you. If you consider your cat an emotional support cat then you can have her legally labeled as an ESA animal by having a professionally licensed therapist or psychiatrist diagnose you with an emotional impairment or disability and stating the need for an ESA animal.
