Tick prevention and your dog

You have a dog at home who needs you to look out for him in ways he can’t look out for himself. This includes helping him stay tick-free.

To help with this, you will need to check your dog over often. This is particularly true when he is coming in from outside, as this is most likely when you will find ticks on him. Try to deter him from spending time in areas where ticks seem to hang out, and be sure to use a preventative method should they become an issue. There are different commercial tick repellants for sale, but many flea prevention methods also include ticks in their efforts, so check what you are already using before heading to the store. Your pet’s veterinarian can offer you some advice in choosing the ideal way to keep your pet away from these parasites. Your local vet clinic Newmarket, ON can offer additional advice.
