Training Dogs

In addition to basic obedience training, there are pet dogs that need addition training to correct undesirable habits or behaviors like jumping, excessive vocalization or barking, chewing, chasing, etc. In a way, many experts attribute this to a miscommunication between pets and their humans considering that they don’t speak the same language. But dogs are highly trainable because pleasing their alpha leader is second nature to them. Desired behaviors are achieved during training when there is positive reinforcement in the form of treats, rewards, belly rubs, pats on the head, etc.

More often than not, undesirable habits displayed by dogs are natural canine behaviors. Training teaches a dog that it is not acceptable in the household. Finding out what is causing your dog to behave that way is a big help in nipping the problem in the bud before it can become a deeply ingrained behavior.

A sudden change in your pet’s health and/behavior should be brought to the attention of your Columbia, MD veterinarian
