Keep Your Cat’s Breath Smelling Fresh

Several important factors can increase a cat’s risk to having foul-smelling breath, a condition technically called feline halitosis.

Being true carnivores, cats thrive with a diet which is rich in meat and/or fish. Fish consumption often leaves a distinct tell-tale scent on a cat’s mouth.

Some cats may have stinky breath, which is usually caused by poor dental hygiene. Without a home dental regimen, plaque and tartar can easily accumulate paving the way for tooth decay and gum disease. Pet cats should also be taken to the vet’s clinic for regular dental visits, however only a small percentage of cat owners recognize this as an important responsibility that should not be taken for granted.

It is a fact that dental problems pave the way for more serious health problems that can be life-threatening.

Bring your pet to your Washington DC animal hospital for his annual dental hygiene and checkup.
