Signs of Aging in Cats
Most cats enter their senior years at around the age of 7. Some cats may not hit their senior years until the age of 10. It really depends on the breed and the genetic makeup of the cat. Cats age and forget just like humans do. Their body slows down, they forget things, and they even grow tired a lot sooner than they used to. Slowing down is a big sign of aging. Your cat may develop arthritis and not want to move around as much. Cold weather may particularly bother her. Your cat may start to sleep even more in the day since her aging body needs additional sleep to restore energy levels. She may lose her hearing and/or her sight. It’s important to have your Teller County, CO vet check your cat regularly to help maintain her health and ensure these are signs of aging and not signs of an illness.
