Winter Weather for Birds
Birds don’t usually mind the colder weather as long as they are in a nice warm environment. When the winter weather starts rolling in you should make sure your bird is safely tucked away indoors in a warm place. If the bird seems to be cold you can cover his cage with a towel. You can do this especially if you have your bird leaving on a porch or room that is not insulated very well. Cold weather can energize birds because of the cooler and lighter temperatures. Heat or hot weather often brings in humidity which creates a thickness in the air. This can cause your bird to be lethargic. Read up on the particular bird breed you own to determine how they will react to a change in seasons. You can also consult with your Glendale, AZ veterinarian and learn more about your bird’s likes and dislikes of winter.
