Feline hunting habits

You have a cat in your life who is well-fed and well cared for. Why does she still try to hunt whenever she gets the opportunity to do so?

Your pet is naturally drawn to hunting activities as it falls in line with her self-preservation instincts. Hunting has helped her wild ancestors stay fed for a long time, so the behavior runs pretty deep. It likely has nothing to do with what or how you are feeding her, but rather a desire to chase after something she thinks she can catch. In fact, you may notice that a lot of playtime activities that your cat enjoys engaging in have something to do with hunting as well. This is because your little fur ball likes to run after things and pounce on them, something that can easily be done with toys in the comfort of your home.
