Can I Leave My Bird Home Alone During Vacation?
If you own a bird that does not require special attention for medical reasons or social reasons then you can probably leave him alone for a few days as long as he’s locked securely in his cage with sufficient food and water. Some owners have added several different bird feeder bowls on different sides of the cage to encourage the bird to fly around from one food to perch to another. It also makes sure there’s enough food for the few days that the owner is away. Multiple water bowls can also be attached to the inside of the cage along with water dispensers. Just don’t rely on the dispenser as the only source of water in case it stops working. Your North Phoenix, AZ vet can tell you it’s a good idea to have someone at least stop by to do a physical check on your bird at least once every three to four days you’re away.
