Why Dalmatians and other Canines Shouldn’t Eat Gum

Chewing gum of any kind is not an appropriate treat for your Dalmatian or any other canine. If you or your family members love to chew gum, please make sure you keep it out of reach of your canine pals. Chewing gum is not something that is easily digested. Dogs don’t know to chew and then spit it out, which can make your pup sick. In addition, many types of chewing gum are made with artificial sweeteners like maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol all of which are from the sugar alcohol family and are highly toxic to most dogs. When chewing gum, make sure you have a dog treat with you to share with your pup in case he asks. Always throw your gum in the trash and not the ground or else your pup may find it later.
