The Affenpinscher and His Nicknames

Did you know that there’s a ‘mustached little devil’ breed of canine in the American Kennel Club listings? Perhaps you know him as his more common name the Affenpinscher. This breed is a toy dog breed that developed in German sometime around the 17th century. He has many loving nicknames including the ‘Monkey Terrier’. Most of the nicknames come from the breeds appearance and his personality. The Affenpinscher is around 7 to 10 pounds and stands between 9 and 11 inches. He is charismatic, energetic, loving, playful, and yes even a bit stubborn. His nickname as the mustached dog comes from the appearance of a mustache on his face. The ‘little devil’ comes from his stubbornness. But the names are all in good fun as this little breed is a delight to most who meet him. If you’re looking for a small dog for your home, ask your vet Hyattsville, MD about the Affenpinscher.
