Why Do Cats Sleep So Much?

Have you ever noticed that your cat sleeps a lot? She practically sleeps all day paying little regard to food or bathroom trips. Not all cats, however, sleep the same. Young kittens sleep a lot after birth n order to continue developing and growing. Middle age cats sleep in between play time or outside hunts in order to regain or restock on energy. Senior cats sleep a lot because of their age. They aren’t young anymore. The smallest activities can make them tired. They often sleep more than they are awake and that’s OK. Seniors deserve a break even if it’s an all day break. If your cat’s sleeping patterns suddenly change and he’s not sleeping as much or he’s sleeping way more than usual, please call your Green Bay, WI veterinarian and schedule an exam. Your cat may be experiencing symptoms from an illness or even side effects from a medication or diet.
