My Snake is Gaining Weight

Does your snake look a little on the heavy side? Weigh your snake and compare it to the most recent vet weight to see if there has been a huge weight change. If so, contact your vet and set up an exam. If not, check your snake’s food to make sure you’re feeding the right amount based on his weight. Your snake could be growing and may be in need of a bigger enclosure so he can move around and exercise as usual. When feeding your snake, watch him to see if he chews or digests his food properly. If food just sits in the stomach for longer than usual there could be a problem. Call your vet. Making a food and exercise journal can help give an overall picture of any changes or inconsistencies in your snake’ diet or routine. Always give your Farmers Branch, TX veterinarian a call when you’re concerned about your snake’s health.
