Help! My Rabbit’s Eye is Bulging!

Eye injuries are one of the more common injuries in pets like cats, dogs, pocket pets and rabbits. In many causes the injury is not severe and is often related to a scratch or irritation from outside debris getting caught in the eye. In some instances, however, the injury is severe and requires outside help from the veterinarian immediately. One such case is when the eye appears to be bulging away from the head or is even out of the socket. The eye is most likely being pushed outside of the socket because of pressure behind the eye. The pressure is what will need to be treated as it is most likely from some kind of injury or trauma. Do not panic. Keep a cloth lightly applied to the eye if possible and take your rabbit to your London, ON veterinary clinic right away for treatment. Do not try to force the eye back into place.
