Keeping your Cat Comfortable in the Heat

If it’s going to be super hot outdoors then consider keeping your cat inside in a nice cool area of the home where she will be comfortable. For instance, a basement or low level of the home can be quite cool and comfortable. Make sure your cat has access to cool, fresh water throughout the house. If you don’t have an air conditioner, set up a couple of fans to help circulate the air in the house. One of the fans should be a floor fan so that your cat can lay down in front of it to cool off. In addition, try offering your cat ice cubes, frozen fruit, or cat friendly ice cream to help her stay cool as well. If you notice your cat behaving oddly such as panting, not wanting to move, looking distressed, etc. then call your veterinarian Crown Point, IN immediately.
