Walking Your Dog at Night

When the hot weather approaches, many owners find it easier and more comfortable to walk their dogs at night. If you choose to walk your dog at night, be sure to take a few extra precautions while you’re out. For instance, make sure you are wearing reflective clothing so any oncoming motorists will be aware of your presence. Your dog should also be wearing a reflective collar or harness and using a reflective leash. Consider carrying a flash light that you can shine along the path. This will also give motorists and other pedestrians a warning that you are walking with your dog. In addition, apply insect repellent to yourself before going out. Night time brings a lot of insects including mosquitoes. If you have a vet approved repellent for your dog you should apply that as well.
