Keeping Your Cat Hydrated in the Summer

Keeping your cat hydrated is important all times of the year especially during the summer. On a normal day, cats should drink anywhere between 3.5 and 4.5 ounces of water per 5 pounds of body weight. Cats weighing around 10 pounds should have between 7 and 9 ounces of water daily. Keeping fresh, cool water around the house can help ensure your cat gets plenty of water. Your cat will also get water from the food she eats. For instance, dry food is 10 percent water while wet or canned food is 80 percent water. If your cat is eating canned food she will be able to get quite a bit of her daily water needs when eating.
