Caring for your cat’s claws

Your cat is a big part of your life and you want to make sure you are there to care for her as needed. This will sometimes mean taking the time to maintain her claws. How can you help her do this?

Your pet needs to scratch on things in order to help keep her ever-growing claws in great shape. This means that a lot of the work will be done by your pet, but she will need you to provide her with appropriate items to help make this happen. Offer her a scratching post or mat that will allow her to keep her claws filed down to a manageable length and will help remove outer portions of her claws that have seen better days. Check them over regularly to ensure this is happening appropriately and to determine if they need any additional attention. For more information, please contact your local Green Bay, WI vet clinic.
