How Big Can A Guinea Pig Get?

Guinea pigs can come in many shapes and sizes. Full-grown guinea pigs can vary in size. This is either due to their breed and/or gender. Male guinea pigs tend to be bigger. But trying to differentiate a male and female guinea pig based on their size is tough. These little fur balls can range from 10-12 inches (25.4 - 30.5cm) in length and weigh between 1.5 - 2.6 pounds (700 - 1179 grams).

Are you curious about your Guinea pig's size? To measure a guinea pig, lay out a tape measure. Try to place it parallel to the tape. The measurement should start from the tip of the nose to its rear!

Now compare that to a hamster. They can grow to around 2-4 inches (5.5-10.5cm) long depending on their breed. This is about the size of a baby guinea pig. If you would like to know more about the difference between guinea pigs and hamsters visit your vet Meza, AZ. Visit the website.
